The iconic Hotel Puijonsarvi is known for its cosiness and hospitality as the center of both accommodation and events. The hotel's history goes back to the beginning of the 1870s, and its stories are shared between several generations.
Our project covered the renovation of the appearance of the hotel's rooms (Standard, Superior, Suite) and the updates of the corridors and elevator lobbies. The hotel's motto is to make the customer's everyday life a celebration and wishes come true, and this also served as an inspiration in designing the new look of the premises. According to the principles of sustainable development, we saved part of the surface materials and adjusted our plans to suit them. In addition to this, the materials have been carefully selected from time- and wear-resistant options.
Music and dance were chosen as a consistent and continuous theme, which emphasizes locality and the strong artistic spirit prevailing in Kuopio. The theme is strongly present in the surface patterns, coloring, lighting and signage. We wanted to create eureka moments through details, art and decorations. The carpet in the hallways has a unique pattern, which guides hotel visitors to the rooms. On the walls of the rooms, you can find oscillating shaped plates and the works of a local photographer from the Kuopio Tanssii ja Soi event, which create a finished touch to the premises.
The hotel also has a Rock suite, which was refined down to every detail to suit the unapologetic rock spirit of Kuopio. In the room you can e.g. sleep in the same bed with the bass and enjoy the top sounds in the living room stereo.
